Being Overdue

September 13th, 2009

The Benton Illinois Public Library conducted a drive to get back into circulation overdue books. All fines were suspended during “free days”. One borrower returned a book that was overdue 81 years! The charge for overdue books was ten cents a day. The tab of $2,956.00 was completely earsed.

Oh, soul take advantage of the day of grace today! There’s no sinking feeling like that of being overdue…

It’s Amazing What You Learn In Sunday School

Nine-year old Junior’s mother asked the boy what he had learned in Sunday School.

“Well, Mom, our teacher told us how God sent Moses behind enemy lines on a rescue mission to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. When he got to the Red Sea, he and his engineers build a pontoon bridge and all the people walked across safely. Then he used his walkie-talkie to radio broadcast headquarters and call in an air strike. They sent bombers to blow up the bridge and all the Israelites were saved.”

“Now, Junior, is that really what your teacher taught you?” his mother asked.

“Well, no , Mom but if I told it the way the teacher did, you’d never believe it.”

It’s amazing what you learn in Sunday School!.

Because God Said So!

July 12th, 2009

Have you ever asked yourself these questions?

  •  ”Does God care about me?”
  • “Does He know how much agony I am going through?”
  • “Does God want to help me?”
  • “Is He able to help me?”
  • “Will I find relief or will I fail?”
  • “Why must I go through this?”

We’ve all been there at one time or another. But never forget, God sees you and knows you. He is for you and you will come through this trial. Not because I said, but because God said so!!

    “Get your own dirt”

    May 24th, 2009

God is sitting in Heaven when a scientist says to Him, “Lord, we don’t need you anymore. Science has finally figured out a way to create life out of nothing. In other words, we can now do what you did in the beginning.”

“Oh, is that so? Tell me more.” God replies.

“Well,” says the scientist, “we can take dirt and form it into the likeness of you and breathe life into it, thus creating man.”

“Well, that is interesting. Show me how you do it.”

So the scientist bends down to the earth and starts to mold the soil.

“Oh, no, no, no………interrupts God, (I love this!) “Get your own dirt.”

It’s Amazing What You Learn in Sunday Sunday

In Miss Lillie’s kindergarten Sunday School class, she was teaching how everything in the world was created by God, including human beings. She taught that God created Adam, then made Eve from Adam’s rib. Little Georgie was very attentive. Later in the week the five-year-old’s mother found him lying down, unusually still. She asked him, “Georgie, what’s the matter?” To which he replied, “I have a pain in my side. I think I’m going to have a wife.”
